PRIMARY COORDINATOR

A huge thank you for helping us out at the Athletics Carnival on the 18th October. Without your help, it is impossible to run such activities. I would still like to say that it would be great to see more parents at such events to encourage the children and also to show your involvement with the school.

PARENT-TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Thank you to all the parents who attended the parent teacher interviews last week. We had quite a good number attending. I would request all parents who were unable to book for various reasons to make an appointment at a time suitable for you and the classroom teacher of your child/children in the coming weeks. Parent teacher interviews are valuable as you can find out more about your child’s academic, emotional and social development at school. You can also share information about your child. Going to parent-teacher interviews shows your child that you’re interested in their learning and life at school.

ENROLMENTS

2020 Foundation Enrolments are now open. We are also taking enrolments for Yr1-Yr 6. If you have a child who is ready to start Foundation class next year or any prospective families with children in Yr1-Yr 6, please inform them to contact us for any further information or to arrange a school tour, and complete an online application and organise time for the child to sit for an entrance test. In this way, the process of enrolment can be completed before the end of this academic year.

PREP 2020 TRANSITION DAYS

The 12th and 19th November are the Transition Days for our Prep students of 2020 from 9am-11am. Transport will be provided for their travel to and back from school or they can be dropped off at school by 9am and picked up at 11am on those 2 days. There will also be an Information Session for their parents on the 12th November at 11:00am in the school library.

HATS AND DRINK BOTTLES

Term 4 is a Sun Smart term and ALL students are expected to have their hats everyday and to wear them during play times and for sport. Students who do not have a hat will be asked to sit in the shade. Students should also be bringing a water bottle to school everyday and drinking water regularly and taking breaks from play if they are getting too hot.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION (CONTINUED):

Tip #2: Talk & Listen: Help your child to recognise the value of using words and speaking nicely to solve conflict. Work together to develop phrases that they can say to a friend and to help start the resolution process, for example, “Let’s talk about it and find a way to work together.”

Learning to say how they feel and what they wish would happen, rather than attributing blame and overly focusing on the cause of the conflict, are also great skills to have. Being a good listener is also important. Helping children learn to listen to each other can be difficult, especially when they are very young or emotionally upset, but it is still a great positive conflict resolution strategy.

Please continue to support us in discussing about the above strategy with your child to make our school a safe, happy place and empower our students to become critical thinkers and socially responsible individuals, motivated by moral values.
